Wrapped in Ribbon: A Birthday Campaign for Lather

Lather is my monthly skincare client, and each month their creative team brings a new story for me to shoot on location. This time it was a birthday, and the goal was to make the products feel like gifts without hiding the packaging.

RIBBONS AND BOWS

We started with a gray sweep and a single spotlight, then wrapped the bottles like presents. We added bright gift bows on the pumps, orange ribbon spiraling around the tubes, and metallic and sage ribbon wound around the tall bottles until they looked like spools. Each wrap had to stay tight, flat, and readable, so the label still sells the product.

THE GLASS SHELF

For the second look, we moved to a clean bathroom feeling: a glass shelf, soft gray light, and fresh bamboo. These calmer images are built for product pages and pairings, with the jars and pumps grouped by routine.

LIP BALM AND TEXTURE

The last set focused on the lip balm. Hands hold the tubes, a squeeze of balm lands on the surface, and texture swatches appear on cream and slate blue. Texture shots are some of the most useful images a skincare brand can own. They show the product itself, not just the package.

WORKING WITH A CREATIVE TEAM

Lather's team styles the products and art directs, and I light and shoot. It is a fast, focused way to work, and it is how we keep a monthly content calendar full without starting from scratch every time.
