Seasons of the Farmers Market

This series began as my thesis for the Visual Art certificate at UC Berkeley Extension. For two years I followed the produce through all four seasons, at farmers markets and on local farms: spring asparagus and peas, summer tomatoes, peppers and stone fruit, fall figs and squash, and winter citrus and roots.

I loved watching the market change each week as farmers brought in what was in season, and seeing shoppers come out to buy fresh food, meet the people who grew it and support their local community. I wanted my photographs to carry that same freshness and connection.

In the studio, the project became a place to experiment with color and shape: the rings of a sliced beet, the curve of a pepper, the deep red of a cut fig. Each piece was styled and lit to show the produce at its peak.

The portfolio launched my food photography career by accident. Brands and editors saw the work and started calling, and I haven't stopped shooting food since. That same eye for fresh produce carries into every shoot today, from packaging and recipe images to farm and agriculture stories.
