Measures to support accessibility

Judy Doherty Photography takes the following measures to ensure accessibility of Food and Health Communications:

  • Include accessibility throughout our internal policies.

  • Test the website on wave.org and accessibilitychecker.org, and apply the following guides on design:

    • Embedded videos have a button to toggle captions in English

    • Pictures and images have alt text to describe them

    • Fonts are 14 pt or larger

    • Contrast in background and text meets accessibility standards

    • Provide a contact button at the bottom of the website for human help when needed.

Conformance status

The Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) outline requirements for designers and developers to enhance accessibility for individuals with disabilities. It describes three levels of conformance: Level A, Level AA, and Level AAA. Food and Health Communications is partially compliant with WCAG. 2.0, Level AA. Partially conformant means that some parts of the content do not fully conform to the accessibility standard.
