Avocado Toast

While the exact inventor is debated, avocado toast gained widespread culinary fame. It cemented its status as a California icon in the early 2010s, symbolizing the state's focus on fresh, healthy ingredients. There was a 2017 New York Times article titled, “LA’s Best Avocado Toast” that seemed to corroborate this claim.

We reviewed the restaurants mentioned and found one that is still serving it today. We modeled ours after theirs, using photos we found online. Simplicity and deliciousness were our goals.

Their avocado toast is crafted on grilled bread, topped with mashed avocado, seasoned with Aleppo pepper, and finished with a fried egg.
