California Roll

The California Roll: The California roll, a sushi creation designed to appeal to American palates by placing the seaweed (nori) on the inside along with using avocado and crab (or surimi) instead of raw fish, was invented in Los Angeles in the late 1960s or early 1970s.

California rolls are ubiquitous, being found on almost all sushi menus and in grocery stores. They are great for sushi beginners who don’t want to eat raw fish!
